Priscilla “Pat” Berends, age 74, of Olivia, formerly of Renville, died Monday, October 14, 2019, at her home in Olivia. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2019, at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church north of Renville. The Rev. Anna Williamson will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Renville. Visitation will be Friday one hour prior to the services at the church north of Renville. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Renville, MN.
Priscilla “Pat” Berends was born on April 11, 1945, in Granite Falls, Minnesota to Christian and Nellie (Woltjer) Mehrhoff. She attended school in Blomkest and Raymond. Pat was united in marriage to Charles Berends December 29, 1961, at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church north of Renville. They made their home in Renville and Pat worked at O’Connor State Bank, Smith Hardware, and she and her husband Charles owned and operated Renville Dry Cleaners. She also worked at Warner Manufacturing in Sacred Heart and at the RenVilla Nursing Home. She was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, being active in church and teaching Sunday school. She loved to embroider, color books, circle puzzles, but most of all tending to her flowers. She also loved spending time with her family and her cousin Elaine – who was always there for Pat and her family.
She is survived by her daughter and son: Lisa Berends of Willmar, and Todd Berends of Cascade, WI; her three grandsons: Jeromy Beyer, Travis Berends, and Sam Berends; her great grandson Lucas; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles, and two brothers Bill and Don.
